Instructions for boot cuffs, make 2.

With 5mm hook. Chain an even number that mesuares 2.5". I did 14. This is the length of the part that will be under the boot. If you like you can add more chains to make it longer.

Row 1: sc in the 4th ch from the hook, *ch 1, sk 1 ch, sc in the next ch**, repeat from * to ** until the end, turn.

Row 2: ch 2, sc in the next ch 1 space, *ch 1, sc in the next ch 1 space **, repeat from * to **, make the last sc in the ch 3 space of the previous row, turn.

Row 3: ch 2, sc in the next ch 1 space, *ch 1, sc in the next ch 1 space **, repeat from * to **, make the last sc in the ch 2 space of the previous row, turn.

Repeat row 3 until you get 10" approximately. You can to stop before or continue adding more rows depending on the width you need, this stitch can stretch a little. Make sure you have an odd number of rows. I did 43. Join both sides with slip stich. Turn your work leaving the slip stitches inside.

Change to the bigger crochet hook (6mm hook)

Row 1: ch 3 (counts as first dc), 1 dc on each row, slip stich in the third chain. Make sure you have an even number of dc in this row.

Row 2: ch 2 (counts as first bpdc), 1 fpdc in the next stitch, * 1 bpdc in the next stitch, 1 fpdc in the next stitch **, repeat from * to ** until the end of the row,  slip stich in the second chain.

Row 3 to 6 (or until you get 2.5" for the top part): repeat row 2. Fasten off and weave the ends.

Instructions for small feathers, make 4 using 2mm hook.

Foundation chain and the calamus: chain 3, chain 4 to start the calamus, chain 1, slip stitch in the next 4 chains, chain 3.

Row 1:  chain 3 (count as first dc), 1 dc in the same stitch, 1 dc2tog (2 dc together), 1 tr on the calamus, 1 dc2tog, 2 dc in the last chain.

*** From the following rows all the dc will be worked in the back loop only. ***

Row 2:  chain 3 (count as first dc), 1 dc in the same stitch, 1 dc2tog (2 dc together), 1 fptr (front post treble crochet), skip the treble chain of the previous row, 1 dc2tog, 2 dc in the last dc.

Row 3: chain 3 (count as first dc), 1 dc in the same stitch, 1 dc2tog (2 dc together), 1 fpdtr (front post double treble crochet) taking the tr from 2 previous rows, skip the treble chain of the previous row, 1 dc2tog, 2 dc in the last dc.

Row 4: repeat row 3.

Row 2 (all stitches will be finished together): chain 2 (count as 1st unfinished dc), 1 dc2tog ,1 fpdtr (front post double treble crochet) taking the tr from 2 previous rows, skip the treble chain of the previous row, 1 dc2tog, you will have 5 loops in your hook to finished them together, chain 1 and fasten off and weave all the ends.

Make two chain that measure 25" each. Pass this string across the top of the boot cuff, then attach one feather on each side.

This pattern is so easy to personalize, you can use any yarn, add feathers, buttons, tassels, bows, flowers, or simply no add any extra.
